European Union Film Festival

We are happy to inform you that, we the DELEGATION OF THE EUROPEAN UNION TO INDIA & INDO CINE APPRECIATION FOUNDATION in  association with the Cinema d’Europe @ The Alliance Francaise of Madras & Goethe Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan, and British Council, Chennai   are organizing the 21st  European Union  Film Festival,   from 6th to 18th June 2016 as per schedule below:.

The Festival will be Inaugurated by Mr.T.UDHAYACHANDRAN I.A.S., Secretary to Government, Tamil Development and Information Department, Secretariat, Fort St.George, Chennai – 600009, in the august presence of Mr.H.D.Gangaraj, President, South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, Mr.Pierre – Emmanuel JACOB, Executive Director, Alliance Francaise of Madras, Mr.Helmut Schippert, Director, Goethe – Institut/Max Muller Bhavan, Chennai and Ms.Mei-kwei Barker, Director, British Council, Chennai. Mr.Sivan Kannan, President ICAF will preside over the function. Ms.Poornima Bhagyaraj, Cine Artiste will light the lamp.

English satellites who conduct research from space discover large oil deposit in the area of tho Old Mines in Cyprus. A big part of the area belongs to C... who has retired there with his wife. The outbreak of a big economic crisis leads the two sons of the family to bankruptcy forcing them to move their families to the house. This whole situation is made worse when the Cyprus government keeps asking to buy the house, and our protagonist character stubbornly refuses. The house is in a state of internal and external siege.

After eight years passed in making this documentary, the “Gypsy” raised by “Whites” became a self-made icon among youth and a music celebrity. Despite all that, he has not yet fulfilled his dream – the dream of understanding his own roots, accepting his father and conciliating with his closest relatives.
