In the 1960s, Rio de Janeiro was on the verge of becoming a hotbed for a new jazz form ‘made in Brazil’: Bossa Nova. Moved by this rising musical trend and the Youth’s passion for life, a group of friends form the band ‘Out of Tune’ (Os Desafinados) and aspire for an international career. Events, however, follow a score that is beyond their control. Set in a dramatic period of Brazil’s history, ‘Out of Tune’ is inspired by real Brazilian musicians who became a defining part of the rising Bossa Nova movement.

Noel Rosa is a funny guy who likes samba duels and improvising sarcastic poems for his friends. A middle class white guy who studies medicine and circulates through radios and cabarets of Rio de Janeiro. The irreverent Samba Philosopher sidesteps his professors, family and even the police to live an intense life.
