Sebastián, 17, manages his uncle’s cosy rent-by-the-hour motel on the coast of Veracruz. Miranda, 35, occasionally meets her lover in the Motel, but he often arrives late. During that spare time, Sebastián and Miranda will become closer and closer.

Antonio and Bertha are an elderly couple in their nineties who find themselves in deep trouble when pensions are suspended due to a social and financial crisis in their country. Given they haven’t seen their two children for many years, the couple is confronted with the need to survive on their own and must face the hard reality of selling their belongings and peddling tamales on the street or turn to crime. The lives of the elderly couple change when their son Jonas and grandson Paco, absent for more than ten years unexpectedly reappear in their lives.

A distinguished writer declares in an interview that he should die consumed by flames, but dies run over without any identification. An assistant coroner and a woman photographer kidnap the body to fake his suicide. The case is assigned to a judicial policeman who is oppressed by the deaths weighing on him.

Jorge lives in a Náhuatl community in the mountains of Puebla. This year he will finish studying law and is thinking of leaving to pursue a professional career; however, he knows that would mean leaving behind his family and the community he has been trying to help. Jorge decides to wait until the family gathers on the second anniversary of his father’s death, according to tradition, to make his decision.

Ramona is fat woman with too much weight and barely any luck. She recalls a childhood filled with moral abuse by her mother, sister and friends, calling her silly offensive names referencing her overweight. When she became an adult, things didn’t really get any better. She’s fired for being fat, she wants a liposuction but the doctor informs her she’s not a candidate due to her overweight, and all her universe seems to be collapsing after a series of unfortunate events. But everything will soon get better thanks to some magical beetles she finds in a Tarot café.
6. Vladimir en mí | Dir.: Octavio Reyes López | 2013 | 80 min (20 Oct | 7.45 PM)
Vladimir doesn’t know what he is. He has all the money he wants, he is afraid of becoming schizophrenic; he is a vampire, an extra-terrestrial, an eccentric millionaire, or all three at the same time. There is no doubt that he is a lady’s man who plays soccer perfectly, who can study the movements of a cabdriver and seduce the most beautiful and intelligent woman he meets.
